Rhino Relocation, Great Plains, Botswana

Wildlife Canada Society partnered with Great Plains Conservation to relocate at least 100 rhinos from high poaching areas in South Africa to safer, controlled areas in Botswana.

The relocation project aims to repopulate Botswana’s wild herds, and create a breeding nucleus that will supplement the more protected rhino population in Botswana.

A large female from the first batch of rhinos relocated. She is blindfolded so there is no residual visual knowledge of human interference.
