Project Year: 2017
Wildlife Canada Society contracted the Uganda Conservation Fund to launch a campaign to build public support for an anti-poaching program. With tourism numbers increasing in Uganda and the elephant population at 5,000 plus and growing, this campaign highlighted the country’s rich natural heritage, and also illuminated the poaching crisis that threatens it.
The campaign focused on pride campaigns using the slogan “Poaching steals from us all” along with campaigns asking people to report wildlife crime. We also provided a mechanism by which people can report crime easily and safely via a national hotline number.
The campaign used a mix of new celebrity ambassadors like the Rugby 7s team, popular comedian Teacher Mpamire, Maurice Kirya and others.
Teacher Mpamire is surrounded by children on the set of his mini-documentary shoot in Uganda.
